The study revealed an increased levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines i.e. IL-6, interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β), and Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α), along with a significant rise of anti-inflammatory cytokines i.e. Transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β), interleukin-35 (IL-35), and interleukin-10 (IL-10), in patients with stage-2 periodontitis, compared to controls. Here, IL1B is linked to periodontitis.
