TGFB1 and cancer: Since TGFβ is a key player in stimulating cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs), we investigated whether EMID2 could inhibit their activation, using primary skin fibroblasts from COLL-EGFP/αSMA-RFP mice, which simultaneously express the enhanced green fluorescent protein (EGFP) and the red fluorescent protein (RFP) under the control of the collagen α1(I) and the α-smooth muscle actin (αSMA) promoter/enhancer respectively [14].
