The presence of inflammatory CD11b+ cells in the expanded sinuses of WT CHIKV–infected LNs (Figure 2, B and C), retention of Lyve1 signal in MARCO–/– mice (Figure 4A), and high expression of monocyte chemoattractant Ccl2 in LNSCs at 24 hours after infection (Figure 5F) suggest that CHIKV-MARCO interactions promote LN inflammation via regulation of inflammatory chemokine expression and recruitment of inflammatory monocytes.
