Patients with gliomas with isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) mutations are more likely to present with seizures, because the metabolic product of mutant IDH, D-2-hydroxyglutarate (D-2HG), synchronizes neuronal activity in a similar manner to the hypersynchronous neuronal firing that drives seizures (126).
