Preliminary analysis using DNA from tumor-free lymph nodes of 19 tumor BRCA1-PM patients showed no (constitutional) methylation of BRCA1. The association might have been overestimated due to the potential misclassification of gBRCA1m patients as BRCA1-non-altered, resulting in a higher incidence of second primary tumors in the BRCA1-non-altered group. This evidence concerns the gene BRCA1 and neoplasm.
