Tuhan et al., by way of considering a small-sized cohort (20 obese children with insulin resistance, 20 obese children without insulin resistance and 35 non-obese children from Turkey) found that (a) insulin resistant obese subjects had lower serum ANGPTL8 concentrations than non-insulin resistant obese subjects; and (b) circulating ANGPTL8 concentration was negatively correlated with insulin resistance in obese children and adolescents; they further suggested that ANGPTL8 might act as a potential biomarker for insulin resistance in obese children or adolescents (22).
