Although research has linked IL-22 to the development and progression of several neurological and autoimmune disorders like inflammatory myopathies, myasthenia gravis, systemic lupus erythematosus, rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren’s syndrome, psoriasis, Crohn’s disease, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease, encephalitis, and Guillain-Barré syndrome [45], few reports discussed the involvement of IL-22 in ASD and no prior studies have investigated the correlation between IL-22 and CARS scores or ASD severity categories. This evidence concerns the gene IL22 and Crohn disease.
