A meta-analysis comparing pregnancy outcomes between early-diagnosed and late-diagnosed GDM [12] showed that women in the first group had a significantly higher likelihood of perinatal mortality risk (RR 3.58 [95% CI 1.91, 6.71]), neonatal hypoglycaemia (RR 1.61 [1.02, 2.55]) and insulin use (RR 1.71 [1.45, 2.03]). The gene discussed is INS; the disease is gestational diabetes.
