In line with our study, Ali et al. [23] conducted a study to assess the relationship between serum liver enzyme activity and general and abdominal obesity in an urban Bangladeshi population; their results show that the mean level of serum ALT and AST was significantly higher in the obesity group than the normal BMI group. Horvath et al. [24] discovered that obesity can cause an increase in DNA methylation in liver tissue due to heightened oxidative stress, which can ultimately damage liver tissue. The gene discussed is GPT; the disease is Abdominal obesity.
