In line with our study, Ali et al. [23] conducted a study to assess the relationship between serum liver enzyme activity and general and abdominal obesity in an urban Bangladeshi population; their results show that the mean level of serum ALT and AST was significantly higher in the obesity group than the normal BMI group. Horvath et al. [24] discovered that obesity can cause an increase in DNA methylation in liver tissue due to heightened oxidative stress, which can ultimately damage liver tissue. Here, GPT is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
