In the same women, we examined a number of nonreproductive pituitary hormones in response to acute hyperlipidemia and hyperinsulinemia and observed no significant differences in levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), prolactin, growth hormone, insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-1, or creatinine, although a small but statistically significant increase in leptin was noted (22). This evidence concerns the gene GH1 and hyperinsulinism.
