This full-length, 31 amino acid long PrRP peptide palmitoylated on Lysine-11 (palm11-PrRP31), further referred as LiPR, activates cells in MBH to reduce food intake, fat mass and weight gain (by around −15%) in mice exposed to the obesity-inducing high fat diet (HFD) (Mikulaskova et al, 2016; Prazienkova et al, 2017). The gene discussed is PRLH; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
