Consistent with this phenotype, genes involved in cell adhesion, such as cdh2 and cd44a, which have been implicated in ovarian cancer (Zhang et al, 2008; Kim et al, 2012), were upregulated at the mRNA level in eif4e1b mutant gonads (Appendix Fig. S4B,F and Dataset EV7).
