According to the binary logistic regression model, the variables which were likely to associate independently with BP control were male/female gender, age, diabetes, obesity, the metabolic syndrome, current smoking, urinary albumin excretion (30–299 mg/g), pulse pressure >60 mmHg (≥65 years), any HMOD, retinopathy, antihypertensive treatment and number of antihypertensive drugs (Table 5).
