According to previous studies, the pathological characteristics of AD are defined by the extracellular accumulation of insoluble amyloid beta protein, intracellular aggregation of hyperphosphorylated tau protein, mitochondrial dysfunction, increased inflammation, and oxidative stress–induced apoptotic activity (McCarthy et al., 2004; Gan et al., 2014; Rai et al., 2020b).
