This is supported by data showing that (i) Aβ aggregates appear prior to tau pathology in AD brains2,3, (ii) Aβ can induce tau phosphorylation in cultured neurons and in vivo conditions43,44, (iii) Aβ aggregates can trigger and/or propagate tau pathology in cultured cells and in a variety of animal models45–48.
