GP1BA and Stroke: In the particular case of platelet membrane-based nanocarriers, this design is especially promising for improving the efficacy of thrombolytic stroke therapies as they have natural thrombus-targeting activity due to the presence of immunoregulatory proteins, such as, integrins (αIIbβ3, CD47), glycoproteins that functions as a receptor for von Willebrand factor (CD42b/GPIbα or GPIIb/IIIa), and other adhesion molecules (such as P-selectin, GPVI and cadherins), which interact with damaged vascular endothelial cells and fibrin.
