Male rats with common peroneal nerve injury, a model of neuropathic pain, treated with FUS at an acoustic intensity of 8 W, were found to have a decreased protein expression of interleukin (IL)-6, IL-1β and tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, pro-inflammatory cytokines produced by immune cells which are involved in acute-phase inflammatory responses against infections and tissue damage (Hellman et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene TNF and infection.
