In Alzheimer's disease (AD)-induced cardiac abnormalities, melatonin treatment was shown to ameliorate myocardial remodelling and contractile abnormalities through the restoration of cGAS-STING-TBK1 signalling pathway-mediated disruption of mitochondrial integrity in mice via the mitochondrial aldehyde dehydrogenase ALDH2 112. This evidence concerns the gene ALDH2 and Alzheimer disease.
