Metformin has been associated to an improvement of the clinical outcome in cancer patients treated with immune checkpoint inhibitors [44, 45], currently, we are conducting a clinical study in NSCLC patients impaired in LKB1, to assess the safety and efficacy of a low-calory diet or metformin, or both, in addition to chemo-immunotherapy [46]. This evidence concerns the gene STK11 and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
