In oral cancer patients, the course of IL-8 initially showed highly significant decrease in expression on day 2 postoperatively (ΔCt2dpost=6.97, p<0.001) compared to preoperatively (ΔCtpre=4.41), followed by an increasing expression on day 4 postoperatively (ΔCt4dpost=6.36, p<0.001) approximating baseline 10 days after surgery (ΔCt10dpost=4.82, p=0.411) (Table 5 and Figure 1C). Here, CXCL8 is linked to lip and oral cavity carcinoma.
