Psychological stress influences the homeostatic equilibrium of the body, through activation of the sympathetic nervous system and hypothalamic pituitary adrenal axis (HPA), by the release of corticotrophin-releasing hypothalamic factor (CRH) and arginine vasopressin (AVP) from the paraventricular nucleus of the hypothalamus, triggering cortisol secretion, which is considered a major contributor in stress response (Lightman, 2008; Belda et al., 2016). Here, AVP is linked to psychosocial stress measurement.
