GPT and diabetes mellitus: After adjusting for age, sex, DM, hypertension, alcohol drinking, betel nut chewing, and cigarette smoking, education status, fasting glucose, hemoglobin, total cholesterol, AST, ALT, eGFR and uric acid (significant variables in Table 1), alcohol drinking history (odds ratio [OR] 1.568; 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.388–1.773; p < 0.001) in model 1, betel nut chewing history (OR 1.664; 95% CI 1.445–1.917; p < 0.001) in model 2, cigarette smoking history (OR 1.387; 95% CI 1.254–1.535; p < 0.001) in model 3 were significantly associated with HCV infection.
