NPHS1 and preeclampsia: Finally, the study was conducted in a single center, which may limit the generalizability of the findings to other settings. However, we have been able to add to the body of knowledge and have generated hypotheses for further testing in future longitudinal studies that will assess the performance accuracy of urinary nephrin as a predictive biomarker of preeclampsia and its severity in a cohort of Nigerian women enrolled in the first trimester of pregnancy.
