Although the mechanism by which SNHG6 blocks cardiomyocyte proliferation is not known with certitude, SNHG6 contributes to ventricular septal defect formation via negative regulation of miR-101 and activation of Wnt/β-catenin pathway, suggesting a plausible mechanistic link between SNHG6 upregulation, impaired miR-100 expression, Wnt/β-catenin activation and the formation of VSD. Here, SNHG6 is linked to ventricular septal defect.
