The oncogenic effect of insulin could be due to the overexpression of insulin receptor by cancer cells, but also to its ability to interact with the IGF1 receptor, especially at supraphysiologic doses (Baricevic et al., 2015; Gallo et al., 2018) and with the use of long-acting analogues (Sciacca et al., 2010). This evidence concerns the gene INS and cancer.
