It was shown that in ovarian cancer, miR-217 inhibits tumour-induced M2 macrophage polarisation by targeting IL-6 and regulating the JAK3/STAT3 signalling pathway and that in renal cell carcinoma, BMP-6 induces M2 polarisation through activation of the Smad5/STAT3 pathway by IL-10. This evidence concerns the gene STAT3 and hereditary clear cell renal cell carcinoma.
