IGF1 and Insulin resistance: Our study supports the existing literature that there is a significant association between the duration of obesity and pancreatic cancer in women.45 Elevated fasting blood glucose levels were associated with an increased risk of pancreatic cancer with a 14% increased risk for every 10 mg/mL increase in fasting blood glucose.46 Insulin resistance, insulin-like growth factor 1, elevated insulin levels and diabetes are also associated with increased cancer risk which potentially explains associations between cumulative duration of excess BMI and pancreatic cancer risk.46,47
