RECK and animal viral hepatitis: Because the involvement of ECM remodeling with increased expression and activation of MMPs is reported in other viral infections such as after coxsackievirus-induced myocarditis [81] as well as the dysregulations of RECK and MMP9 in Epstein-Barr virus infection in nasopharyngeal carcinoma [82], it is plausible to suppose that RECK may be involved in viral hepatitis via MAPK signaling.
