The serum levels of the cardiac hypertrophy marker BNP were also significantly high in hypertrophic hearts (p < 0.01); paroxetine pre-treatment decreased serum BNP levels compared to the CH untreated group (0.546 ± 0.27 vs. 1.877 ± 0.128 ng/mL, p < 0.01) (Figure 1E). Here, NPPB is linked to cardiac hypertrophy.
