Similarly, herbal melanin derived from N. sativa was evaluated for its anticancer activity against colorectal cancer and its effect on the mechanism of action for adenocarcinoma and metastatic colorectal cancer (mCRC) cell death and it was found that the activity was achieved via proliferation inhibition, enhanced ROS production, inhibition of Bcl-2 family proteins, release of cytochrome C and activation of caspase 3/7 [34]. This evidence concerns the gene BCL2 and metastatic colorectal cancer.
