EGFR and amyloidosis: ALECT2 is thought to be a relatively benign type of renal amyloid associated with a slow decline in EGFR, but it is a relatively recently discovered disorder (2008), and many questions about the condition are still unanswered, including what exactly is the molecular basis of the process or what factors are underlying the apparent restriction of ALECT2 amyloidosis to some populations [24,25,26].
