Children with NAFLD exhibit lower fasting and postprandial FGF19 levels in the blood and have significantly higher BA levels and hepatic expression of CYP7A1 than those without NAFLD, suggesting that the FXR may not negatively regulate CYP7A1 directly or through FGF19 signaling [17,18,19,20]. This evidence concerns the gene NR1H4 and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
