Children with NAFLD exhibit lower fasting and postprandial FGF19 levels in the blood and have significantly higher BA levels and hepatic expression of CYP7A1 than those without NAFLD, suggesting that the FXR may not negatively regulate CYP7A1 directly or through FGF19 signaling [17,18,19,20]. The gene discussed is CYP7A1; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
