Specifically, when AML cell lines (MOLM14 and U937) as well as AML blasts and normal hematopoietic cells (peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMC) and CD34+ cells) were exposed to etomoxir (3 μM), a block of carnitine palmitoyl transferase 1 activity occurred and, consequently, FA degradation in the mitochondria. Here, CD34 is linked to acute myeloid leukemia.
