IL-17 transcript is elevated in chronic silent MS lesions and the IL-17 receptor is also expressed by endothelial cells in multiple sclerosis lesions [51,52] An IL-17-blocking antibody could prevent the development of EAE and suppressed chemokine expression in the brain; EAE was also delayed and attenuated in IL-17-deficient mice [53]. The gene discussed is IL17A; the disease is multiple sclerosis.
