The same research team, in their second work, revealed a functional interaction between BDNF/TrkB and PTX3 in advanced gastric cancer and provided evidence that these proteins may enhance the interaction between bone metastatic gastric cancer cells and osteoblasts leading to osteolysis, and that their expression might allow the prediction of metastatic potential and improve the prognosis of patients with advanced gastric cancers. The gene discussed is BDNF; the disease is gastric cancer.
