To investigate the possible role of LOX-1 in CVD we analyzed the association between baseline levels of sLOX-1, a marker of LOX-1 activation, and risk for development of myocardial infarction and heart failure in a population cohort of 4658 subjects aged 52-62 years followed for a mean of 19.5 years. The gene discussed is OLR1; the disease is myocardial infarction.
