The non-cardiac chagasic patients showed higher frequency of IL-13, IL-5, and IL-10 (anti-inflammatory cytokines) and lower frequency of IL-2, IL-6, IL-9 and IL12 (pro-inflammatory cytokines), while the patients with Chagas cardiomyopathy displayed higher pro-inflammatory and lower anti-inflammatory cytokines. This evidence concerns the gene IL9 and Chagas cardiomyopathy.
