This supports previous studies which found that the xenophagy inhibiting IL-10 cytokine is predominant in multibacillary leprosy (MB) compared to high levels of IL-26, IFN-γ, and TNF-α (xenophagy-inducing cytokines) found during paucibacillary tuberculoid leprosy (PB) [31,32].
