In addition, our in vitro studies indicate that the primary components of MB aqueous extract could be ligands of several metabolic targets (PTP1B, α-glucosidase, PPAR-α, PPAR-δ, PPAR-γ, CETP, ACAT-2, HMG-CoA reductase, and ACE) associated with diabetes mellitus type 2, dyslipidemia, hypertension, and obesity, as well as related to MetS parameters. This evidence concerns the gene PTPN1 and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
