Of the 40 DEGs genes identified by Tsitsiou et al. 5 were part of the asthma-associated modules such as S100A9 (S100 Calcium Binding Protein A9), S100A8 (S100 Calcium Binding Protein A8) and MNDA (Myeloid Cell Nuclear Differentiation Antigen) which belonged to the Darkturquoise module, i.e. lower expression in asthmatics. This evidence concerns the gene S100A8 and asthma.
