Correspondingly, circulatory BMP8B levels were found to be significantly higher in NASH patients [mean±SD: 149.6±70.55] than in healthy control individuals [median (25th-75th quartile): 7.34 (0.85–15.12)] and NAFL patients [median (25th-75th quartile): 31.15 (18.59–68.03)] (Fig 1). This evidence concerns the gene BMP8B and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
