In 2003, the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) of China approved the first anti-tumor gene therapy drug (rAd-p53) in combination with radiotherapy for the treatment of Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma (HNSCC) [39].The main principle of rAd-p53 is to introduce the P53 gene into cancer cells by constructing an adenoviral vector to express the p53 protein and perform biological functions. This evidence concerns the gene TP53 and head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
