These findings confirm the induction of ICAM1 expression by F. nucleatum and highlight that it is mediated by ADP-H released by the bacterium.34 Altogether, our results demonstrate that F. nucleatum promotes the expression of anti-apoptotic and adhesion genes involved in Fusobacterium-mediated oncogenic mechanisms.19,34 This promotion occurs in a TIFA-dependent manner, underscoring the relevance of this pathway in CRC pathogenesis.
