ALB and diabetes mellitus: In contrast to the protective effect of dietary Ca on diabetes (50, 51), a meta-analysis of four studies indicated that both total serum Ca (RR: 1.38, 95% CI: 1.15–1.65) and albumin-corrected Ca (RR:1.29, 95% CI:1.03–1.61) were associated with incident diabetes, which was in line with ours (52).
