A recent research has revealed an intriguing role for stromal SNAIL1 in melanoma biology [48] and demonstrated that stromal SNAIL1 expression directly regulates fibroblast activation protein alpha (FAP) transcription in fibroblasts, and induces melanoma growth by promoting an immunosuppressive microenvironment and a decrease in anti-tumour immunity. This evidence concerns the gene SNAI1 and melanoma.
