We recently demonstrated that rTBI can be an environmental risk factor that is sufficient to trigger ALS/FTD-associated neuropathology including widespread TDP-43 mislocalization and behavioral deficits in a transgenic mouse model of C9orf72 ALS/FTD that are not observed in non-transgenic and sham-operated control mice [35]. This evidence concerns the gene C9orf72 and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
