Previous researches have indicated that obesity is associated with alterations in hormonal profiles, including excessive secretion of leptin, insulin, adipokine, androgen and estrogen, and decreased levels of adiponectin and sex hormone binding globulin, which can lead to functional alteration of the hypothalamus -pituitary-ovarian axis, menstrual disorder and impairs folliculogenesis [11, 34–37]. This evidence concerns the gene INS and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
