Notably, AIM2 expression levels are significantly reduced in PCa and even undetectable in some PCa cell lines.[81] In addition, it has been discovered that alterations in the structure of the endoplasmic reticulum in PCa can stimulate LPS synthesis, leading to increased expression of Caspase-4, inducing pyroptosis and inhibiting tumor growth.[82] It can be observed that not all pyroptosis-related pathways are activated in PCa, and some of them are actually inhibited. This evidence concerns the gene CASP4 and posterior cortical atrophy.
