HDAC8 and cancer: HDAC8 is a memberof the HDAC enzyme family having an important role in cell cycle progressionby catalyzing the deacetylation of histones and a number of cytosolicproteins.25 HDACs participate in criticalsignaling networks, and their deregulation has been linked to manydiseases, including cancer by effecting cell reproduction, neurodegenerativedisorders, metabolic dysregulation, and autoimmune and inflammatorydiseases.26−29 HDAC8 has 10 cysteines, and eight of them can in general form fourdisulfide bridges.
