LDHA and cancer: The major receptors for cancer target are CD44 (a transmembrane hyaluronic acid receptor involved in cell adhesion, migration, metastasis, and drug resistance), CD90 (a glycosylphosphatidylinositol-anchored membrane glycoprotein involved in tumourigenicity and metastasis), CD133 (a target antigen for acute myeloid leukaemia), and aldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH, responsible for detoxification of anti-cancer drugs by converting aldehydes to carboxylic acids).
